For families caring for a child with significant medical or developmental needs, finding the right support at home can make an enormous difference. Georgia’s Pediatric Program, commonly known as GAPP, may provide eligible children with Medicaid-funded skilled nursing and/or personal care services in the home.
But for many parents, the first question is simple:
5.
At MedTex Home Care, we work with families throughout Metro Atlanta and surrounding Georgia communities to help them understand the GAPP process, gather the necessary documentation, and submit their child’s information for review.
Below, we explain what families can expect when beginning the GAPP process.
How do I get started with GAPP?
1.
GAPP (Georgia Pediatric Program) provides in-home care for eligible children with medical or functional needs.
Depending on your child’s needs, services may include:
Skilled nursing care
Personal care and help with daily activities
Support with feeding, mobility, medications, and other care needs
Medicaid/GAPP determines eligibility and the number of care hours approved for each child.

Every child’s situation is different, but families should generally be prepared to provide information such as:You’ll typically need:
Your child’s Medicaid information
Current medical records and diagnoses
Your child’s doctor and specialist information
Documentation showing your child’s medical and daily care needs
Not sure what you have or what you’re missing? That’s okay. We’ll help you through it.
